The research aimed at studying the effects of moderate training and vigorous training on the respiratory status of overweight individuals. The research was conducted by using comparative experimental design of pre-post test two group design. The population was devided into two groups. One group received moderate training, while the other one received vigorous training treatment. The assesment was held before and after the treatment on each group. The treatment was administered in the Fitness Centre BPRS Dadi Makassar. The data were analysed statistically by using the Mann Whitney non-parametric test to know the effects of the treatment, and paired t-test to find out the different effects of the treatment. It was found that the four week-moderate and vigorous training treatment resulted did not giving effects on the improvement of vital capacity, FEV1 and tidal volume of the overweight individuals but giving changing on increasing of vital capacity, FEV1 and tidal volume becoming homeostatic.
