The Relationship between Nurses' Knowledge Level and Attitude with Universal Precaution in the Emergency Room of Labuang Baji Makassar Hospital

The incidence of nosocomial infections at Labuang Baji Makassar Hospital in 2022 was plebitis 19.38%, UTI 0%, Decubitus 0%, ILO 2.6%. Meanwhile, in 2023, since the last 3 months have been plebitic 19.42%, ILO 4.5%, the increasing incidence of nasocomial infections is a reason for researchers to find out the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of nurses and Universal Precaution at the emergency room of Labuang Baji Makssar Hospital.
The research design used is descriptive analytical with a cross sectional approach, the population in this study is all nurses who work in the emergency room of Labuang Baji Makassar Hospital which totals 30 people. Sampling was done using total sampling techniques, data collection was carried out using questionnaires and observation sheets, the data that had been collected was then processed and analyzed using a computer program Microsoft Excel with the IBM statistical program. Data analysis includes univariate analysis by looking for frequency distribution, bivariate analysis with Chi Square test (ρ<α (0.05)) to find out the relationship between variables.
The results showed that knowledge had a meaningful relationship with Universal Precaution ρ=0.003 <α (0.005), and attitude ρ=0.007<α (0.05). The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of nurses and universal Precaution in the emergency room of Labuang Baji Hospital, Makassar.
