Abstract

Lifestyle changes in the era of globalization have a significant impact on the health conditions of populations across various countries, including Indonesia. Globalization, characterized by technological advancements, high mobility, and easy access to a wide range of consumer products, has drastically influenced the lifestyle of modern societies. The consumption of fast food, lack of physical activity, increasing levels of stress due to work and social pressures, and excessive use of technology are the main factors affecting both the physical and mental health of modern populations. Additionally, changes in sleep patterns, excessive intake of caffeine and sugar, as well as reduced direct social interactions also contribute to the decline in overall health quality. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the influence of lifestyle changes on public health in the era of globalization and to identify preventive measures and effective health promotion strategies to improve quality of life. The research method employed is a literature review (library research) using a descriptive qualitative approach. Various scientific journals, reference books, peer-reviewed articles, and official reports from global health organizations were accessed and analyzed to gain an in-depth understanding of the relationship between lifestyle changes and the increasing risk of non-communicable diseases, mental health disorders, and other public health issues. The analysis indicates that unhealthy lifestyle changes, such as an unbalanced diet, lack of physical activity, prolonged stress, and the consumption of alcohol and tobacco, significantly contribute to the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health disorders. The study also found that health education, the implementation of healthy diets, regular physical activity, stress management, and the limitation of excessive technology use play an important role in encouraging the public to adopt healthier lifestyles. In conclusion, lifestyle changes in the era of globalization have a complex and multidimensional impact on public health. Collective awareness and comprehensive intervention strategies involving various stakeholders, including the government, health institutions, communities, and families, are required to minimize the health risks posed. Promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention should be a primary focus to maintain and enhance the population’s quality of life while reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases and mental health issues in the modern era.
